History of White Sage: 

•  White Sage is considered sacred to Native Americans and people of Indigenous cultures, and is considered cultural appropriation by many to be used by anyone not of Indigenous descent. Some natives also believe that mother nature does not discriminate & celebrates the worlds diversity. Some share the benefits with those who listen carefully and consciously. As long as you take responsibility to be respectful of the history & significance, and acknowledge the origin of the culture, it is possible for you to appreciate Indigenous culture without perpetuating harmful stereotypes.

• Native people have been oppressed since the 16th century, when European colonizers came to the United States. In 1892, the "Rules for Indian Courts" made it illegal for Native people to practice their religious ceremonies. In 1978, the AIRFA (American Indian Religious Freedom Act) was passed, promising Native people the freedom to, "believe, express, and exercise their traditional beliefs."

•  Native Americans were the first on record for using white sage for using it in a ceremonial or ritual way. It was used to get rid of any unwanted or negative energies, to ask the spirits for blessings, prosperity, protection, holistic healing, and more. Burning sage was a way of communicating with the spirit realm and connecting to the spirit of the plant and the earth. By burning sage with intention, you are asking the spirit of the sage to lend it's cleansing and protective energy into your space, body, etc. Please be mindful and respectful of the significance of this item from its origins. ❤️
